At El Paso Kidney Specialists, our approach is different.
Dr. Fernando Moran and his team combine advanced, evidence-based nephrology with something many patients say is missing — time and clarity.
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care. Every treatment plan is tailored to your unique health needs, and every appointment includes clear, compassionate explanations so you fully understand your condition, your options, and what comes next.
Our team is also fully bilingual, providing care in both English and Spanish so you can speak comfortably in the language you prefer.

Step 1: Call or Book Online
Finding the right kidney doctor is important—our friendly, bilingual team is ready to help you schedule your first appointment by phone or online. We’ll answer your questions and make the process easy, whether you prefer English or Spanish.
Step 2: Your First Visit
At your first appointment, you’ll meet Dr. Moran, discuss your health history, symptoms, and concerns, and receive a thorough evaluation. You’ll get clear explanations, a personalized treatment plan, and plenty of time to ask questions—so you leave feeling informed and confident.
Step 3: Your Path to Better Health
With expert care and ongoing support, you’ll start seeing real improvements and gain peace of mind knowing your kidney health is in good hands. Our goal is to help you feel your best and enjoy life again, with a clear plan for a healthier future.

You should see a nephrologist if your primary doctor has noticed abnormal kidney lab results, reduced kidney function, high creatinine levels, uncontrolled blood pressure, or complications from diabetes. If you’ve been referred or are concerned about your kidney health, it’s better to get clear answers sooner rather than later.
Many patients feel confused about terms like creatinine, GFR, or protein in the urine. During your visit, we take the time to explain what your numbers mean in plain language, how serious your condition is, and what steps should be taken next. Our goal is for you to leave understanding your health — not feeling overwhelmed.
Not every patient with kidney disease requires dialysis. The need for dialysis depends on the stage of kidney function and your overall health. We carefully monitor your condition and discuss your options clearly so you understand what to expect and when intervention may be necessary.
Yes. Dr. Moran has advanced training in transplant nephrology and serves as a transplant physician for the only transplant program in El Paso. If you may be a candidate for kidney transplantation, we guide you through the evaluation process and provide continued care before and after transplant.
Your first visit includes a detailed review of your medical history, lab results, and current symptoms. Most importantly, we take the time to answer your questions and explain your condition clearly. You will leave with a better understanding of your kidney health and a personalized plan moving forward.
We accept most major insurance plans. Our team can help verify your coverage and answer questions about billing before your appointment.
Not every case is the same. Some kidney conditions can be managed effectively for many years with the right medical care and monitoring. The most important step is understanding your specific diagnosis and stage. We review your results carefully and explain what they mean for you, so you have a realistic and clear picture of your situation.
Many kidney conditions do not cause noticeable symptoms in the early stages. That’s why lab work and regular monitoring are so important. Even if you feel well, changes in kidney function can still be happening. We help you understand what’s going on beneath the surface and what steps, if any, are needed to protect your health.
Follow-up visits depend on your individual condition and stage of kidney function. Some patients require closer monitoring, while others may only need periodic check-ins. During your appointment, we’ll explain your recommended follow-up schedule clearly so you know what to expect moving forward.
